D&AD to launch Global Awards 2006
D&AD has revealed the biggest international judging line-up in its history for its 2006 Global Awards -- and follows what D&AD is billing a significant overhaul of the awards process. The D&AD Global Awards 2006 kicks off on November 8 with the launch of the Call For Entries season, following the launch of the 2005 Awards Annual on November 7.
The new Awards features a raft of changes, says the design organization, including the addition of eight new sectors. The new additions include broadcast, print and editorial, digital and wireless (including gaming), 3D design, direct, branding, integrated, and ambient. The distinction between non-English language and English language entries has been removed, say organizers.
Entries to the D&AD Global Awards 2006 will be scrutinized by over 300 judges from 28 countries -- the most internation panel in the Award's history. Organizers say the judging will move to London's Excel Centre in the Docklands to better accomodate the large number of entries the contest receives.
"I am very excited by the changes to the D&AD Global Awards," said D&AD chief executive Michael Hockney. "They reflect our determination for the Yellow Pencil to remain the best and m ost coveted award in advertising and design. This year we hope to see more entries than ever before."
Deadline for the Awards is January 27, 2006 -- and entered work needs to have been published, broadcast, or launched between January 1 and December 31, 2005.
